Foreign doctors who do not have a Japanese medical license are not permitted to practice medicine in Japan.
Foreign physicians without a Japanese medical license are not allowed to practice medicine in Japan. The clinical training system is based on the “Act on Special Provisions, etc. of Article 17 of the Medical Practitioners Act Concerning Clinical Training of Foreign Doctors” and allows medical practice (excluding the issuance of prescriptions) in Japan for two years under the supervision of a medical advisor after examination and approval by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
